King, also known as Chaos King, is the main antagonist and final boss of Deltarune Chapter 1. He is a powerful Darkner from the Card Kingdom and the father of Lancer. One of the four kings, King serves the Knight by protecting the Eastern Fountain and seeks to shroud the world in darkness, making Darkners its rulers.

King shares many features with his son Lancer, including a round body, a teardrop-shaped head with a black spade where his eyes should be, and blue gloves and boots. Distinctive traits include his three-spiked crown, a massive mouth shaped like a blue spade on his stomach that can wield a chain as a weapon, and a flowing black cape.

Personality-wise, King is cold-hearted and power-hungry, showing little compassion even for his son, often using him as a hostage. Yet, there are rare moments where his care for Lancer subtly appears.

📜 Story and Role in Deltarune

Long ago, the Card Kingdom was ruled by four kings. When the Knight arrived, King allied with him, gaining control by imprisoning the other kings and ruling alongside Lancer.

In Chapter 1, King is the main antagonist. He holds Lancer hostage to force the heroes to surrender, but Lancer breaks free, allowing the battle to begin. King reveals his goal to create a world ruled by Darkners in darkness.

After defeat, King feigns surrender before incapacitating the heroes. Depending on your actions, he is either put to sleep by a Pacify spell or captured by Lancer’s forces. In Chapter 2, he appears imprisoned but still sharp-tongued, interacting with the party and other characters.

Use the arrow keys to move your SOUL (the red heart) around the battle box to dodge King’s attacks.
Pay attention to attack patterns like Spade Attack, Swing Attack, Chain Attack, and Spiked Cage traps.
Use the Z key to confirm ACT commands and attacks, and X to cancel or defend.
Coordinate Kris, Susie, and Ralsei’s ACT and ITEM choices to balance offense and defense.
Survive the full 15-turn scripted battle or deal enough damage to defeat King sooner.
Use healing items and manage TP (tech points) wisely to withstand attacks.
Learn and memorize King’s predictable attack sequences to dodge effectively.
